The Richard Lugar Safe Haven for Veterans, Fort Wayne
The 25-bed Safe Haven is a specialized version of the Healthcare for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) Contractual Residential Program, funded by the Veterans Administration. As a 'Housing First' program veterans do not need to make an initial commitment to sobriety/substance free living, but are expected to work with their case manager toward a lifestyle conducive to stable housing. Supportive Services for Homeless Veteran Families
Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program
Through the SSVF program, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs aims to improve the housing stability of very low-income veteran families by providing intensive case management and assisting participants to obtain VA benefits and other community benefits. Veterans can be connected with benefits such as vocational and rehabilitation counseling, job training and educational assistance, health care referral, transportation, legal service referral, child care and other services.
